What We Believe
- We believe that God is one living and true God, everlasting without body, of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness, the creator, maker, and sustainer of all things. And in this Godhead there are three persons of one substance, power, and eternity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- We believe in Jesus Christ. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried. On the third day, he rose again from the grave. In him we are forgiven of all our sins and receive new life. He is both fully God and fully human.
- We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is one subtance with the Father and the Son. He is the presence of God among us. He comforts us, guides us, and empowers us for ministry in the world. He convinces the world of sin and restores us to be the holy people God made us to be.
- We believe that the Bible reveals the word of God in all things necessary for salvation. It is to be received as the rule and guide for all faith and life.
- We believe in original sin. Alll people have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and, in and of themselves, are inclined to evil always.
- We believe that God in his great grace has restored a measure of that which was lost in the fall to sin to all people, so that influenced and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are responsible to respond to his offer of grace and may choose to either accept or reject a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
- We believe the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross is the perfect and sufficient sacrifice for all sin.
- We believe that we are saved and forigven by grace through faith not by human works. However, good works are the necessary fruit of faith.
- We believe Jesus not only forgives us of sin, but also changes us and enables us, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to be the holy people we were created to be in this life.
- We believe that baptism is a symbol of the grace that God shows to us in Jesus Christ and as such all people, including infants, may be baptized.
- We believe that in Holy Communion we encounter the presence and grace of Jesus Christ anew in a real and meaningful way.
- We believe that Jesus will come again at the end of time and judge the living and the dead. Those who have come to faith in Jesus Christ will be granted a life of salvation in heaven. Those who have rejected his grace will spend eternity in a real place called Hell as satisfaction for their sins.
