Ruben Cabanillas

Senior Pastor

Pastor Ruben Cabanillas came to OHUMC in June of 2010 from the Pataskala United Methodist Church in central Ohio. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Youth Ministry from Warner Southern College in Lake Wales Florida; a Master's degree from the Anderson School of Theology in Indiana; and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. Pastor Ruben and his wife, Joni, have 2 grown sons, Isaac and Gabriel. Isaac is married to Kelly and they are the parents of Ruben and Joni's grandson, Joseph. Gabriel is married to Summer and they live in Celina, Ohio.

Pastor Ruben came to the ministry at a very young age. His parents were missionaries in the Amazon jungle in Peru. His childhood was spent switching between staying with his parents in the remote Indian villages they served and staying with his grandmother in Lima, Peru so he could attend school. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at age 13 and led the Youth Ministry in his father's church. He also traveled extensively with his father as his father planted the seeds for new churches all over Peru. Pastor Ruben came to the United States when he received a scholarship to attend college and stayed in the U.S. after he met and married Joni. He has adopted the United States as his country and became a United States citizen in 1990.

Pastor Ruben loves his ministry and would like to share his love of Christ with you. Feel free to call the church office and request an appointment with him!
